Today, we celebrated the official end of the school year with a delicious breakfast at school and our informal awards ceremony where I received my award for my 5 years of service in Fairfax County Public Schools! I can't believe it's been 5 years since I was fortunate enough to get a job in FCPS. It was nice to be thanked for my hard work over the past 5 years with a small gift from the county, but just having my dream job is gift enough for me. As much as I may complain sometimes and get frustrated and worn out, I truly love what I do and I can't imagine doing anything else. Here's hoping I can make it 25 more years as a teacher!

Best Father Ever!
In honor of yesterday being Father's Day, I thought I'd take a minute to share just how fabulous my daddy is! I probably don't say it enough, but I am extremely lucky to have the dad that I do. My dad is literally the most intelligent person I know. I can go to him for ANYTHING- advice about home repairs, money questions, sports trivia, historical facts and great vacation planning :) He knows something about everything and Andy and I both seek out his fatherly advice on a regular basis.
My dad is also the most supportive dad in the world. Growing up, my mom stayed home with me while my dad worked. Mom would chauffeur me to soccer practice, take me and my friends to the mall, or hang out at the pool with me all day while my dad was hard at work. But even though he was busy, I don't recall a single soccer game, swim meet, school play or event that he was not there for. He made it a priority to always be there and it is one of my favorite things about him as a dad.
One of the great perks of having my dad as a father is that he spoils me immensely (okay, well, both of my parents do, A LOT, as an only child!) He goes way out of his way to make me happy in both the big and the little things in life, and I could not be more grateful for his generosity and love. He really is the best daddy ever! Lucky me :)
